Hey, I'm Mariah! I grew up in the small hometown of Tomball, Texas. About two years ago my family and I have moved to the Woodlands, Texas, home of the Savvy studio. I really like it here. Since I love being outdoors and love doing outside activities like riding my bike, camping, and playing basketball, this is the perfect place to live!
I am 13 years old and this year I attend The Woodlands Preparatory Academy School. I am in the eighth grade and school is only getting harder and harder, but I have managed to keep my "A" average. My favorite subject has to be Spanish. Not only because I love my Spanish teacher, but also because I think it is cool to know two languages and be able to talk to people that might not know your language. I have two older brothers. My oldest brother Drew is a U.S. Marine and my younger brother is Forrest, he is an engineering student at Texas A & M University. I have a Pomeranian dog named Prince Theodore and a Russian Blue cat named Jinxie Blu.
One of my favorite things is to travel, especially to Cozumel, Mexico. It's like my paradise. I've been there 19 times. I go all the time because my parents and I are scuba divers, I have never been more fascinated with anything in my whole life! I like to hang out with my friends at the mall and SHOP and go to the skate boarding park. I also like to shop with my mom because she helps me pick out the coolest stuff! I like hanging out with my papa because he is so fun! No matter what I do with my best friends, we always have fun doing it!
In my spare time, if any, I like to work on my dancing. I also like to write songs, poetry, and I love to draw and make art! My favorite Movies are Stick It, Nacho Libre, and Spider Man 3. My favorite TV shows are Drake and Josh, So You Think You Can Dance, and Whose Line Is It Anyways? I love listening to music any chance I get! I like Alternative, Rock, Hip Hop, and R&B.
I have been singing and dancing since I was 4. I started competing at the age of 5 when I won my first national competition in song and dance. I graduated from modeling school two years ago and the year before that I represented Texas as Miss Texas Jr. Pre-Teen. Before Savvy I was very involved in my community musical theatre and I performed in over a dozen plays. I have also done some TV commercials and ads for the Space Center Houston and NASA.
I have an upbeat personality and try to make everyone happy by looking on the bright side of things. And it makes me feel good to listen to and help out my friends whenever they have problems. My goal in life is to have my own TV show, be in movies and to have a number one CD out. Of course to go to college too at NYU!!
I heard about Savvy auditions while I was in acting class. I was really nervous on the day of the audition, so my mom got me there about an hour early and I was the first one there. I made the first cut. The next round was much harder. We were taught a dance and two songs and had to perform them one by one. At 9 p.m. they started announcing the finalists, and my name was the fourth one called. I was sooo excited and so were my parents because they knew this is what I wanted and worked for my whole life.
There is so much to say about the cool things we've done in the last years–like being on tour visiting a new city and state every weekend and meeting new fans from all over the country. One of the neatest things we get to do is sign autographs after each show and we get to talk one-on-one with our fans. We all truly appreciate their support. I had so much fun traveling to Canada to make our first CD, also going to Hollywood this summer to make our "Every Body Moves" DVD with the Savvy Crew was the coolest experience of all!!
Being in a group like Savvy has taught me so many things. First of all, what it is like being in a really BIG family. I love my Savvy brothers and sisters. It's also taught me to appreciate my own family and the time that we do get to spend together! I never thought by the age of 11 I would be performing live concerts nationwide and making CDs and DVDs. Savvy is making my dreams come true and I will never forget the experiences that I am having with Savvy. If I were to give any advice to anyone who wanted to break into this business, it would be to keep on trying and never, never give up. Everything happens for a reason.
My motto is, "Live life to the fullest everyday!"
Hasta Luego!
